What is Paju Ape Pansala?
Paju Ape Pansala is a Buddhist temple and cultural center to be constructed in Paju, South Korea. The temple represents a spiritual sanctuary for the Sri Lankan diaspora and a broader effort to promote Theravāda Buddhism in Korea. Its name, meaning “Our Temple in Paju,” reflects the warmth and unity of the community behind it.
Why Paju Ape Pansala Matters
With over 80,000 Sri Lankan migrant workers currently living in South Korea, the Paju Ape Pansala project is a crucial pillar of the South Korea – Sri Lanka Buddhist connection. This sacred space will serve as a religious, emotional, and cultural refuge—especially for those far from home.
Spiritual Significance and Cultural Impact
The temple will function as a hub for spiritual practices like chanting, meditation, Dhamma discussions, and Buddhist festivals such as Vesak. It also supports language classes and youth development programs. This further embeds the Paju Ape Pansala as a foundation for community building and Buddhist education.
